We are located on the corner of Washington and Elizabeth Streets. Spence Paint Company, and the Department of Motor Vehicles also resided here.
Out our door to the Capitol Complex is just a short walk
This is a before shot of our dining room. There were drop ceilings, and the floor was covered by a rug and 4'x8' OSB board (with thousands of nails).
We tore down lots of drywall, and exposed on of the brick walls.
The pressed tin ceiling required lots of loving attention.
The place lay empty from weeks at a time, as we worked odd jobs to make ends meet.
We thought we might never get open.
Amongst many accoutrements, we installed an antique Italian chandelier.
Our walls are now adorned with work for sale from local artists, including the ones that have studios upstairs.
This picture was taken the day before we opened. It took us over 1-1/2 years to renovate the space...with a little help from our friends and family.
We finally opened October 1st, 2005. Thanks for visiting Bluegrass Kitchen!
